Modern technology allows dentists to replace missing teeth without the need for removable plastic teeth or damaging adjacent healthy teeth. This is achieved with implant treatment and allows patients the many benefits of a fixed restoration.
An implant is a titanium screw that replaces the root of a tooth that has been lost. A porcelain replacement crown / bridge can then be fitted to the implant. The implant surface is treated so that bone and implant bond together and become stronger from the moment of placement (osteointegration).
Multiple implants are possible to replace more than one missing tooth. This technique can even be used to replace a complete set of teeth.
 |
A single missing tooth unbalances the dentition, detracts from appearance and reduces the efficiency of chewing.
A bridge would mean the adjacent healthy teeth would need to be drilled down to make room for the porcelain.
Implant restoration is an ideal solution to this problem.
