A dental bridge is a device used to replace a missing tooth. It is attached / fixed to teeth either side of the space.
Tooth loss detracts from your appearance and puts a strain on the other remaining teeth. It can destabilise your bite (other teeth start to move) resulting in other problems such as food packing and tooth decay. A missing tooth can cause loss of confidence.
To make a bridge the adjacent teeth need to be filed down. If the adjacent teeth are in perfect condition an alternative option maybe to have an implant fitted to avoid filing these teeth.
The replacement teeth are usually porcelain and are created on an individual basis by the laboratory to match the size, shape and colour of the original / existing dentition.
